Call Queue Deployment Guide
Everything required to stand up a production-grade Microsoft Teams Call Queue — from the resource account to the routing method and voicemail behaviour.
Deployment order
- Step 1Create Resource AccountNew Entra account of type Call Queue.
- Step 2Assign Teams Phone Resource Account LicenseFree MCOEV_VIRTUALUSER SKU.
- Step 3Assign Phone NumberOptional — queues can also be fed by an Auto Attendant.
- Step 4Create Call QueueTeams Admin Center → Voice → Call queues → Add.
- Step 5Assign AgentsDirect users or an Entra / Teams group (recommended).
- Step 6Select Routing MethodChoose how calls are distributed across agents.
- Step 7Configure OverflowWhere callers go if the queue is too long.
- Step 8Configure TimeoutWhere callers go if they wait too long.
- Step 9Configure Shared VoicemailOptionally deliver messages to a group mailbox.
