Auto Attendant Deployment Guide

Every step below can be completed in the Teams Admin Center. PowerShell is offered as an optional alternative for admins who prefer scripting or bulk automation.

Teams Admin Center is the default path — no scripting required. PowerShell is an equivalent alternative for the same tasks, useful for automation.
Step 1

Create Resource Account

The resource account is the identity that will hold the Auto Attendant's phone number and be linked to the Auto Attendant.

Configuration
  • Display name: ra-<country>-aa-<purpose>
  • Username: ra.aa.main@contoso.com
  • Resource account type: Auto Attendant

  • Use a strict naming convention

  • Assigning a user license instead of the resource account license
  • Using a real user account as the resource account
